Né en 1886. Vient de
Brockton, au Massachussets. A étudié au collège Fordham
avant de se joindre à l'équipe de Québec. Le 10 juin
1907, le Washington Post lui consacre un article. «I
only saw Jack Ellwood play one game of ball at Quebec,
but that was enough to convince me that he has the
making of a cracking good first-baseman, notait l'ancien
capitaine des Senators de Washington, Larry Schlafly, en
tournée de dépistage. He handles a thrown ball as
natural as any man in the business, looks like a hitter,
and while he's not particularly fast man, he uses good
judgement on the bases. I won't say that he will make
good in the Big League right from the jump, but I'll
wager that with a little experience, he will be a star
in a year or two. That is how he impressed me.» Malgré
